How to Clear VLC Recent List
If you’re a frequent user of VLC media player, you might have noticed that it keeps a list of recently played files. While this feature can be convenient for quickly accessing your favorite videos or music, it can also clutter your interface and slow down your search for specific files. If you’re looking to clear the VLC recent list, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out.
Step 1: Open VLC Media Player
First, launch VLC media player on your computer. You can do this by clicking on the VLC icon in your start menu or desktop shortcut.
Step 2: Access the Recent List
Once VLC is open, click on the “Media” menu at the top of the window. From the dropdown menu, select “Open Recent.” This will open a sub-menu displaying your recent list.
Step 3: Clear the Recent List
In the “Open Recent” sub-menu, you will see a list of recently played files. To clear the entire list, right-click on any of the files in the list and select “Clear List” from the context menu. Alternatively, you can press the “Ctrl + A” keys to select all files and then press “Ctrl + Delete” to clear the list.
Step 4: Confirm the Action
After selecting “Clear List,” a confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” to confirm that you want to delete all the files from the recent list.
Step 5: Restart VLC (Optional)
If you want to ensure that the recent list is completely cleared and won’t reappear on your next VLC session, you can restart the VLC media player. Close VLC, then reopen it and check the recent list to verify that it’s now empty.
By following these simple steps, you can easily clear the VLC recent list and keep your media player interface clean and organized. Remember that this process will only delete the list of recently played files and won’t affect your media library or any other settings within VLC.
